River Lotus Yoga 200 hour (RYT) Teacher Training Program

This Winter we are offering a yoga teacher training program at River Lotus Yoga. Have you ever wanted to teach a yoga class? Do you want to deepen your own practice and knowledge of yoga? A 200 certificate is your gateway into the world of yoga. We will go over lots yoga philosophy and practices. Including but not limited to:

Asana (posture practice), Pranayama (breath work), Dhyana (meditation), yoga philosophy and the language of sanskrit, history, anatomy, assists/adjustments, and more!

Our intention is to give you the tools you need to teach a class or create a solid home practice. Justin Englerth and Robin Beals are both 500 E-RYT and 200 E-RYT certified with Yoga Alliance, and co-owners of River Lotus yoga. They will be your lead trainers and guide you through the program. We have also included some great guest teachers to enrich the experience

Gina Garris, Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan 

Gina Garris is a Colorado native and was introduced to, and fell in love with, Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan at the Crestone Healing Arts Center, an intensive, residential program known for its unique and comprehensive approach to healing. Gina received both her massage certification, as well as her IKYTA Kundalini Yoga Teacher Certification at the Crestone Healing Arts Center in Crestone, Colorado. Gina is also a Certified Yoga Nidra Facilitator in The Amrit Method, received her 200 RYT through Asana Yoga Studio in Arvada, Colorado in May of 2012 and is also certified in Curvy Yoga (Body Positive Yoga for People of ALL Shapes and Sizes). Gina’s life purpose is to spread the light through yoga and her healing touch. She has an innate ability to touch your heart with a simple smile and welcomes anyone she encounters.

Annie Jacob, Ayurveda 101 

Annie Jacob is a Certified Anusara® Teacher, E-RYT500, YACEP, an Ayurvedic Lifestyle Counselor, 5 Rhythms® Space Holder and the owner of The YogaTonic since 2006. Initiated into the Sri Vidya Lineage, she continues to work with her Teacher Rod Stryker and pursue her Certification in Para® Yoga as well as continue her education in Ayurveda. Annie shines in the area of helping her students overcome injury and pain in the physical body with her in-depth knowledge of alignment as well as supporting students through subtle body awareness to find a state of mental and emotional balance through breath practices, meditation and other yogic techniques. The tools of yoga have helped her personally navigate difficult life experiences, gain appreciation for her body and life and help her grow spiritually. In turn, she enjoys holding space for others to move through a process of self discovery and healing as they connect to their authentic nature and the source of power and peace within. Annie is the founder and owner of The YogaTonic in Salida, CO since 2006.   She teaches public classes, private yoga instruction, teacher training and offers workshops and retreats. Annie’s classes are supportive, fun and enlivening. As a business owner, mother and artist, Annie draws from her personal life to help students find balance, creativity and possibility both on and off their mats.

Manorama, intro to Sanskrit and the yoga sutra

Bea Wilds, pre-natal yoga 

Bea received her initial doula training & certification through CAPPA in 2012. She continued her education with some of our nation’s most noteworthy birth workers. She trained in Rebozo skills with Gina Kirby, she expanded her birth skills with Birthing From Within’s Virginia Bobro, and became a midwife assistant with The Farm midwives.Bea has attended over 130 births as a doula and midwife assistant. She has attended unmedicated, medicated and cesarean births in the hospital and regularly attends homebirths.As a prenatal yoga teacher and doula, Bea is highly skilled in helping achieve optimal fetal positioning prior to and during labor.Bea’s birth philosophy is that there is not one “perfect” way to birth, rather each woman must meet birth in her own way at that moment. Bea owns Enso Pre-Natal yoga in Colorado Springs, CO.

Mandy Keiken, anatomy

Mandy attended University of Colorado Boulder from 1996-1999 and received my undergraduate degree in Kinesiology. Kinesiology is the study of the Human body in motion. I took multiple courses in Human anatomy and physiology as well as exercise science. I later attended Colorado State University Pueblo and received a Masters of Science degree in Natural Sciences. The focus for my Thesis was phylogenetic analysis. My research consisted of looking at genes and the proteins they expressed and if there were any similarities between species. While attending CSU-Pueblo, I was a TA for the Human Anatomy and Physiology courses. Once I received my Masters degree, I began instructing Human A & P I and II for CSU-Pueblo and Pueblo Community College. I have been teaching since 2003, which is 15 years!

Hansa, Bhagavad Gita

Hansa, YA 500 E-RYT, is an ongoing student of Kripalu Yoga.  Over the years, she has studied with many teachers who have offered insights and depths into the path of yoga.  The blessings of all the wisdom holders offers her a unique, unfolding experience of yoga.  She has developed the belief that the body is the silent communicator of the Spirit and uses yoga, yoga chikitsa, ayurveda and massage to facilitate Spirit connection.  She has taught in many locations and now has her own studio, the PranaYoga and Ayruveda Mandala in Denver.  She teaches yoga classes, yoga teacher training programs and a yoga therapy training. Hansa is a past president of Yoga Alliance and Yoga Teachers Of Colorado and served on the Board of Kripalu Center, Sanga, International Yoga College and is currently on the Standards Committee for International Association of Yoga Therapy.

Bill Kemp, Iyengar Yoga 

An Iyengar practitioner for 26 years and certified Iyengar Yoga Instructor for 20 years, Bill Kemp has taught at various yoga studios and fitness centers in the U.S. Bill has studied with B.K.S Iyengar and Geeta Iyengar at the Ramamani Iyengar Yoga Center in Pune, India, Patricia Walden, and at many other venues and with many instructors over the years.Bill taught at the Full Circle Yoga Bookstore and Yoga Institute in San Diego, and later studied with Patrcia Walden for many years in Boston Massachusetts. Bill was a staff teacher at Patricia’s studio (BKS Iyengar Yoga Center of Somerville) for years as well.

Mike Matsumura, Raja Yoga and advancing the practice 

Mike Matsumura, YA 500hr E-RYT. In 2003, Mike met his gurus (teachers), Sri Dharma Mittra & Eva Grubler, with whom he studied with in NYC at Dharma Yoga Center. Mike eventually became a Yoga Alliance E-RYT 500 hour advanced certified teacher in Dharma Yoga Level 1-3 and also became initiated as one of Sri Dharma Mittra’s disciples right before he left NYC for Colorado Springs to be with his wife. Sri Dharma Mittra gave Mike the Sanskrit name “Sadhu Om,” which means the righteous and holy. While residing in Colorado (2006-2014), Mike “Sadhu Om” and his wife, Charlotte “Shakti Devi” Matsumura, co-founded and ran Pranava Yoga Center in Colorado Springs from 2009-2014. Mike taught over 10,500 hours in a class setting, teacher training, workshops, festivals and privates over his yogic career. He also co-directed the Yoga Alliance registered 200 Hr. along with his wife and was the director of the 500 Hr. teacher training program. In the summer of 2014, Mike and Charlotte relocated to Austin to be closer to her parents. Charlotte’s mom was dealing with Alzheimer’s disease until she passed in January 2018. Mike is constantly continuing on his yogic journey, keeping his teachers and their teachings with him along the way. Besides working on this yogic path, Mike also practices being a vegetarian. Mike enjoys helping everyone to find their own teacher inside their heart.
